BBC Chartering is a global market leader in the ocean transportation of heavy lifts and project cargo. We support leading customers with our fleet of more than 140 multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels ranging from 4,000 to 40,000 DWT and featuring lifting capacities of up to 800 mt. Our global network of more than 30 offices is at the service of charterers with the planning and execution of transport orders for tramp or liner services all over the world.

2024

In May, BBC Chartering adds the first of a series of fifteen vessels of the new "LakerMax"-Class to its fleet, the mv BBC LEER and opens an office in Hamburg.

2022

BBC Chartering celebrates it's 25th anniversary during the Gallimarkt-Week in October 2022.

2020

BBC Chartering takes delivery of BBC ST PETERSBURG and BBC ARKHANGELSK, two further units of the F500-series.

2019

Ulrich Ulrichs joins BBC Chartering as the company's new Chief Commercial Officer in May. In August 2019 he succeeds Svend Andersen in the role as CEO of BBC Chartering.

2018

BBC RUSSIA, the first of a series of six vessels of the F500-type is being delivered and enters service. The multipurpose heavy-lift vessel has a deadweight of 12,400 tons and a lifting capacity of 500 mt combined.

2017

BBC Chartering celebrates its 20th anniversary in October.

2016

BBC Chartering consolidated a record fleet of over 180 multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels, exceeding a gross fleet capacity of DWT 2.1Million. New presences were opened in London, UK and Esbjerg, Denmark, further strengthening the global chartering network.

2015

BBC Chartering opened new offices in Beijing, China and Hochiminh City, Vietnam and further strengthened its global chartering and sales network in Far East / Asia. The “apac service” campaign, promoting the “any port, any cargo service” was launched. "Any port. Any cargo." was selected as the company's general service claim in 2021.

2014

The innovation of the core fleet was supported by co-launching the eco-friendly "F500" newbuilding programme with partners. The strategic cooperation with Manchester Terminal in the Port of Houston was tightened to provide a dedicated project terminal for BBC Chartering in the US Gulf. Own presences were opened in France and Spain.

2013

The year started with the completion of the "Congo-type" series by taking delivery of the 17,000dwt BBC DANUBE. By mid-year, the 700mt heavy-lift series of the "Everest-type" was completed by taking delivery of the BBC XINGANG. By the end of the year, one third of the fleet had been capable of lifting 500mt and more. Accompanied by market wide challenges, BBC Chartering continued to focus on improving its commercial position in important markets in South America and Korea, also opening another branch office in Brisbane, Australia, and, adding more capacity to the Caytrans operated joint-venture trade in the Caribbean.

2012

New representations were opened in Belgium and Australia, and more capacity was added to respond to customer demand in the coastal Caribbean trade, the West Coast South America trade and, on regular international services between Europe and Asia. The fleet renewal programme commenced during the year and hit halftime by taking delivery of the 14,800 dwt vessel BBC CITRINE, a vessel of the "Amber-type" series featuring 800mt lifting capacity.

2011

BBC Chartering took over the operation of numerous vessels previously sailing under the Beluga brand. With the BBC EVEREST, BBC FUJI and BBC AMBER, BBC Chartering took delivery of three new units of its fleet renewal and modernization programme, enabling the company to offer lifting capacities in excess of 500mt. This was accompanied by the introduction of a ‘project division’, a service unit that delivers dedicated tender management and transport engineering for large scale projects. In addition to the opening of a Shanghai and Liverpool office BBC Chartering introduced a BBC Trans-Pacific liner service, and the BBC Americana Line – Med Service.

2010

The BBC Chartering Bulk Division was formed to create and coordinate customized solutions. BBC Chartering formalizes its presence in Japan with establishing BBC Chartering Japan Ltd. Together with Teras Cargo Transport, Teras BBC Chartering LLC is being created as the owner company of the vessel BBC HOUSTON which carried the US flag.

2009

BBC Colombia and BBC Ecuador Andino were established, allowing BBC Chartering to better serve the increasing demand for shipments and service in oil & gas, mining, wind generation, and other projects in South America. Asia Project Chartering Pte Ltd. (APC) was dissolved, with it's operations continuing under the BBC Chartering name to enhance its presence in Asian Pacific Markets. The offices are located in Singapore, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul, Melbourne and Dubai. Mediterranean Project Chartering (MPC) launched in 2007, became BBC Chartering Genoa Srl.

2008

BBC Chartering's US operations are being reorganized as BBC Chartering USA, officially becoming part of BBC Chartering, Leer. With Houston, Texas, the office is located conveniently close to our power, oil & gas, and EPC client base in the US. New European and Gulf Liner Services offer regular connections from the US Gulf to Europe and the Persian Gulf.

2007

BBC Chartering opens offices in the shipping hubs of Genoa, Italy and Aarhus, Denmark, the wind power capital. APC installs its first presence in Japan, providing our Japanese clients a first hand professional contact person.

2006

BBC Chartering starts working in Sao Paulo as an operation and chartering base for all services to and from South America: coordination of port agents and commercial representatives. Asia Project Chartering (APC) opens an office in Melbourne, Australia.

2005

BBC Chartering launches three main liner services: the Andino, Americana and APC South America Far East (SAFE) Lines. The office in Dubai opens.

2004

Asia Project Chartering (APC) is formed as an alliance between BBC Chartering and Clipper Projects, headquartering in Singapore. The APC Dalian office was founded later the same year. Offices in Montreal, Canada and Buenos Aires, Argentina are being added to the network.

2003

BBC Chartering Korea is being established. BBC Chartering Andino SA (BBC Andino) is founded as the Latin American branch of BBC Chartering.

2002

The office St. Petersburg is being established to concentrate on services to, from and in Russia. Also, an office in Bremen opens and BBC do Brasil joins forces in the South American market.

2001

BBC (USA), LP is being established as link between the Americas and Europe, directing chartering, operations, sales & marketing and technical duties for all vessels calling the United States.

1999

The company and it's head office moves to Leer, Germany. At the same time we open our first South American location with the Argentinean team.

1998

Argosy Shipping becomes BBC’s sole representative for North America in Houston, TX.

1997

BBC Chartering & Logistic is being established in Bremen by partners Roelf Briese and Bruno Bischoff. Hence the name "BBC", which stands for Briese Bischoff Company. Co-founder Svend Andersen becomes the company's CEO.
